Monaco has been around for a long time. It was almost 50 years ago that the first Monaco RV rolled off the line and onto America’s scenic byways, and the name has long since come to be synonymous with luxury amongst knowledgeable RVers. In 2009, Monaco was absorbed by Navistar, which is the company responsible for the same MaxxForce engines found in Monaco’s big diesel pushers.
While Monaco is best known for its luxuriantly appointed diesel pushers, some of which are better than 45 feet long, but this high end RV manufacturer has also edged into the small diesel pusher market with a handful of rigs. The Diplomat is currently the smallest diesel pusher on Monaco’s roster, although its longer floor plans are definitely outside the small motorhome range.
Monaco Diplomat
The Diplomat is Monaco’s smallest diesel pusher, although small is a relative term when it comes to some of the monsters Monaco has sold over the years. While the other diesel pusher models we’ve covered have topped out in the mid- to high 30 foot range, that’s where the diplomat starts. The very shortest Diplomat floor plan is the 36 PFT, which features the same full-length slide found in much bigger Monaco rigs in addition to two additional slides. Not only is the Diplomat on the top end of what we consider a small diesel pusher, it also has a lot of square footage when all of the slides are extended.
