Coachmen RV has been building travel trailers and campers in Middlebury, IN, since the 1960s. Since then, they have become a full-service line by adding fifth wheels, class C motorhomes, and class A motorhomes to their lineup. Initially a family-owned and operated business, Coachmen became a publicly traded company in the late 1970s. In the early 1980s, the business entered the ranks of the Fortune 500 and remained a highly successful independent RV manufacturer for over two decades after that.
Since 2008, Coachmen RV has operated as a division of Forest River — one of the largest families of RV manufacturers in the world. Coachmen currently operates out of a 120+ acre facility in Middlebury where they produce both small class C and class A motorhomes, in addition to larger rigs in both of those classes.
Coachmen’s smallest class C rigs are built on the Mercedes Sprinter platform, but they also have small class C motorhomes on Ford and Chevy chassis.
